Job Description
**Job Title** Industrial Development Intern – Medical Devices **Role Summary** A 3–6 month internship focused on the characterization of viscoelastic blends used in medical device manufacturing. The intern will bridge laboratory work and industrial processes to optimize transformation parameters and ensure process safety. **Expectations** - Conduct physical and rheological measurements of blends at elevated temperatures. - Generate and analyze data for approximately 40 samples to build a variability history. - Translate laboratory data into actionable process parameters for industrial equipment. - Support formulation trials and propose improvements based on data correlations. **Key Responsibilities** - Measure viscosity and rheological properties of viscoelastic mixtures. - Perform data acquisition, cleaning, and statistical analysis using Excel or other statistical tools. - Identify trends, interpret results, and prepare reports. - Monitor industrial blend conversion on production machines. - Correlate formulation characteristics with processing parameters. - Develop a parameter chart (measured values vs. machine settings) to aid operator adjustment. - Optionally conduct laboratory scale reformulation experiments and recommend process adjustments. **Required Skills** - Strong foundation in chemistry, formulation, materials science, or process engineering. - Proficiency in Excel and basic data analysis/statistics. - Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and self‑directed work ethic. - Interest in viscoelastic materials and industrial production environments. - Effective written and verbal communication for reporting findings. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current student or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s (Bac+3) to Master’s (Bac+5) degree in Chemistry, Formulation, Materials Science, or Process Engineering. - No specific certifications required.
