Job Description

Job title: Software Optimisation Engineer (Photonics/AI) Role Summary: Develop and optimise meta‑heuristic algorithms for HPC and AI/ML applications, coding in Python, C++ or C#, and validate performance on large‑scale cloud‑based data pipelines. Expactations: Deliver high‑quality algorithmic solutions that improve optimisation efficiency, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and provide rigorous testing and documentation. Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and refine meta‑heuristic optimisation algorithms for HPC workloads. - Develop and maintain code in Python, C++ or C#, ensuring scalability and performance. - Build and test cloud‑based data pipelines for processing large‑volume test data from data centres. - Integrate AI/ML techniques to enhance optimisation strategies. - Conduct thorough testing, profiling, and optimisation of algorithmic components. - Document design decisions, usage guidelines, and performance results. - Collaborate with stakeholders to translate research concepts into production‑ready solutions. Required Skills: - Proficiency in algorithm software development with Python, C++ or C#. - Strong experience in meta‑heuristic optimisation methods (e.g., genetic algorithms, particle swarm, simulated annealing). - Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and their application to optimisation problems. - Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data pipeline architecture. - Ability to write clean, well‑documented, and testable code. - Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. - Effective communication of complex technical concepts. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. - (Preferred) Prior research or professional experience in meta‑heuristic optimisation or AI/ML domains.
