**Job title**
Safety and Security Engineer
**Role Summary**
Responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing, and upgrading safety and security field equipment (fire and intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, audio‑visual, public address, and voice alarm systems). Provides on‑site technical support, first‑time fixes, and customer advisory services while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and information security standards. Operates as part of a 24/7 on‑call rota and participates in mentored training for career progression.
**Expectations**
- Deliver high‑quality installations and maintenance within agreed service levels.
- Perform work independently and as part of a team, adapting to lone‑working and reactive call‑outs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to company and regulatory standards.
- Advise customers on product improvements and system efficiencies.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Install, commission, and service field equipment across fire, intruder, CCTV, access control, audio‑visual, and public address/voice alarm systems.
2. Retrofit upgrades and extensions to existing systems as part of remedial works.
3. Conduct on‑site technical support during reactive call‑outs and planned visits.
4. Provide first‑time fix solutions and document all works per company standards.
5. Work effectively on a 24/7 on‑call rota and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
6. Offer customer guidance on latest products and services to enhance operational efficiency.
7. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, information security, and data protection requirements.
**Required Skills**
- Technical expertise in safety and security system installation, commissioning, and servicing.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to explain technical matters to non‑technical users.
- Independent problem‑solving, self‑motivation, and flexibility to handle lone work and team tasks.
- Good admin skills with experience in internal business systems and documentation.
- Commercial awareness: design, pricing, and cost‑saving insights for system upgrades.
- Ability to work under a 24/7 on‑call schedule and in high‑pressure reactive environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Full UK driving license.
- DBS clearance (public sector requirement).
- Valid CSCS/ECS Card.
- IPAF/PASMA/Asbestos Awareness certification.
- Current electrical qualifications (e.g., CEng, ECAC).
- Accreditation from a recognised safety and security training provider (BAFE, SSAIB, NSI).
- Proven experience with major industry manufacturers (Bosch, Dahau, Hikvision, Genetec, Advanced, Gallagher, PAC, Win‑Pak, Veracity, Milestone) preferred; Gallagher Access Control skills highly valued.
