Job Description
Job Title: Pensions Calculations Analyst Role Summary: Performs production and systems testing of pensions calculation automation software for DB and DC schemes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and maintainability. Expectations: Demonstrate deep knowledge of UK occupational pensions (especially DB), manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively within virtual teams, and adapt processes to improve standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze business requirements, trust deeds, scheme rules, and other documentation to design precise software solutions. - Collaborate with actuaries, solicitors, and other stakeholders to clarify complex technical queries. - Create detailed calculation proformas from first principles and develop supporting automation test packs. - Execute production and test runs, validating results against documented rules. - Continuously optimize end‑to‑end automated calculations for performance and reliability. - Establish and document standards, procedures, and best practices, promoting consistency across projects. Required Skills: - Expert understanding of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension schemes. - Extensive knowledge of UK pension legislation and occupational pension regulations. - Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; advanced skills in Python, Unix/Linux command line, and SQL are highly advantageous. - Ability to produce comprehensive calculation proformas and automation test documentation. - Process‑driven mindset with adaptability to evolving requirements. - Strong multitasking capability and experience collaborating in virtual teams. Required Education & Certifications: - Relevant degree in finance, actuarial science, economics, or related field; or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., ACT, FSA, CFA, CIIA). - Certifications in pension administration, actuarial analysis, or data analytics are a plus.

Job Title: Pensions Calculations Analyst – Defined Benefits Role Summary: Perform production and system testing of pensions calculation automation software for a global pensions administrator. Apply deep expertise in UK Defined Benefit schemes to design, validate, and optimise automated calculations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and maintainability. Expectations: - Deliver precise calculation outputs and automation test packs. - Collaborate effectively with scheme actuaries, solicitors, and cross‑functional teams. - Establish and enforce calculation standards and best practices. - Adapt processes to changing business and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Analyse trust deeds, scheme rules, and related documentation. - Plan and design software solutions based on first‑principles calculations. - Develop and maintain automated calculation workflows; write SQL queries, Unix scripts, and Python code. - Execute production testing, script validation, and regression analysis. - Produce detailed calculation proformas and supporting automation documentation. - Monitor system performance and recommend optimization strategies. - Liaise with third‑party stakeholders to solve technical queries. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK pensions legislation and industry best practices.
