**Job Title**
Interim Legal Counsel – Corporate/Commercial (Infrastructure/Logistics) – 6‑Month Fixed Term
**Role Summary**
Provide comprehensive legal counsel to a global logistics leader, handling corporate, commercial, and compliance matters across the UK and key EU markets (Spain, Sweden, Netherlands). Operate within a lean legal team, reporting to the General Counsel for Europe, and deliver high‑quality, cross‑functional legal support for the organization’s infrastructure, joint ventures, investments, and operational contracts.
**Expectations**
- Fixed‑term 6‑month engagement beginning January.
- 5 days/week in‑office (Southwest London or Suffolk).
- Deliver timely, precise legal advice and drafting.
- Collaborate with commercial, finance, supply‑chain, and operations teams to mitigate risk and drive business initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a collegial working relationship.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize commercial agreements vital to logistics operations.
2. Advise on corporate governance, joint venture structures, capital projects, and strategic investments.
3. Ensure compliance with UK law and cross‑border regulations (Spain, Sweden, Netherlands); recommend policy improvements.
4. Manage data privacy, employment, and litigation matters, liaising with external counsel when necessary.
5. Identify and assess legal risks, propose mitigation strategies, and facilitate risk‑aware decision‐making.
6. Build rapport with internal stakeholders, presenting clear, actionable recommendations.
**Required Skills**
- Advanced knowledge of corporate and commercial law, contract drafting, and negotiation.
- Experience with cross‑border regulatory frameworks and EU compliance.
- Strong risk assessment and mitigation capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex legal issues to non‑legal audiences.
- Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work independently in a lean legal environment.
- High integrity, professionalism, and collegiality.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Qualified solicitor/advocate (or equivalent).
- Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience (PQE).
- Prior exposure to a prominent national law firm and in‑house legal practice.
- Demonstrated competence in corporate, commercial, and compliance matters.
