Job Description
**Job title** Backend Engineer (Rust) **Role Summary** Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Rust services that power telemetry, observability, and automated remediation for AI infrastructure. Lead the scaling and reliability of Kubernetes‑based and Kafka‑driven data pipelines, ensuring robust operation in distributed production environments. **Expectations** - 2–6+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience. - Rust programming is essential; expertise in distributed systems, Kubernetes, and Kafka. - Proven ability to debug and resolve complex production issues. - Strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including founders and senior engineers. **Key Responsibilities** - Build and optimize Rust‑based services for telemetry ingestion and observability. - Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and Kafka topics at scale. - Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and AWS services. - Monitor system health, identify root causes of incidents, and implement automated remediation workflows. - Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and knowledge sharing with senior engineers. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in Rust, with experience building production‑grade services. - Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including operators, autoscaling, and networking. - Strong Kafka experience: topic design, partitioning, consumer groups, and performance tuning. - Familiarity with Terraform, AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, CloudWatch), and related tooling. - Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts (consistency, fault tolerance, latency). - Effective debugging and troubleshooting skills in live, high‑availability environments. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work in fast‑paced, cross‑disciplinary teams. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus but not mandatory.
