Job Description
Job Title: Data Engineer – AWS Role Summary: Deliver data engineering solutions for a migration and integration project on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Design, develop, test, and optimise data pipelines, ensuring quality and adherence to process standards, while providing technical guidance to the team. Expectations: - Contractual 12‑month engagement with occasional onsite presence. - Produce robust, maintainable code and documentation. - Maintain high testing standards and conduct thorough test case creation and execution. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design, build, and deploy data pipelines and integration solutions using AWS services. 2. Develop and maintain code in Python and SQL, leveraging PySpark where appropriate. 3. Apply version control practices using Git and enforce standard‑driven coding. 4. Design and execute test plans, including data preparation, test case design, and test automation where feasible. 5. Conduct review and assurance activities, mentoring peers on best practices. 6. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Required Skills: - AWS fundamentals (EC2, S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, etc.) - Python programming, SQL querying, and PySpark data processing. - Version control with Git. - Strong testing methodology and QA mindset. - Experience in database technologies (relational or NoSQL). Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, OR substantial professional experience in data engineering/data development.
