Job Description

Job title: Associate Lecturer Computing Role Summary: Deliver high‑quality online teaching and learning in higher‑education computing programmes, specialising in Cyber Security and/or Artificial Intelligence, while supporting student success and contributing to academic quality and innovation. Expactations: Design and facilitate engaging digital learning experiences, assess and provide timely feedback, supervise research projects, utilise learner analytics to intervene when needed, maintain academic standards, contribute to module development as a subject‑matter expert, and participate in continuous professional development and institutional quality assurance activities. Key Responsibilities: - Create, update, and deliver teaching materials aligned with programme objectives. - Conduct online lectures, tutorials, and forums, ensuring inclusive and interactive learning environments. - Mark assessments, offer constructive feedback, and supervise student projects and dissertations. - Monitor student progress through analytics, implementing timely interventions. - Refer learners to appropriate support services and promote student well‑being. - Contribute to internal QA, module review, and enhancement processes. - Develop new or revise existing Cyber Security/AI modules and review content. - Attend meetings, workshops, and mandatory training; maintain accurate teaching records. Required Skills: - Digital teaching and learning design expertise. - Proficiency in assessment and feedback strategies. - Strong teamwork, communication, and engagement skills. - Subject‑specific knowledge and experience in Cyber Security and/or Artificial Intelligence. - Ability to mentor and support research‑focused students. Required Education & Certifications: - PhD, Master’s, or substantial industry experience in a relevant computing discipline (e.g., Cyber Security, AI, Data Science). - Prior teaching experience within the UK Higher Education sector. - Eligibility for Fellowship of AdvanceHE (or willingness to obtain). - Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, AI/ML credentials) are desirable.
