**Job title**
Network Engineer (M/F)
**Role Summary**
Design, deploy, and maintain critical university network infrastructure for ~30,000 users, ensuring high‑availability 24/7/365. Lead technical direction, supervise a small ops team, and serve as the primary network reference.
**Expectations**
- Lead network architecture and implementation projects.
- Maintain continuous service and quick incident resolution.
- Mentor team members and support end‑user operations.
- Collaborate with security, DevOps, and public‑sector procurement teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Plan, implement, and manage campus and CARRES network infrastructures (Cisco).
- Design and evolve firewall architecture and segmentation policies.
- Develop and maintain DevOps tools (Docker, Git, Ansible, Jenkins) for network automation.
- Administer advanced network services: routing, switching, Wi‑Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, IPv4/IPv6, VXLAN, VRF, APIs, Git integration.
- Oversee technical responsibility for ECNI (national computer‑based exams) infrastructure.
- Act as the network technical referent for university services.
- Guarantee high‑criticality network availability; participate in expanded shift schedules for sensitive interventions.
- Supervise a small operational team.
**Required Skills**
- Deep expertise in Cisco networking (OSPF, BGP, MP‑BGP, VLAN, VXLAN, STP).
- Strong grasp of network security (macro/micro‑segmentation, VPN, authentication).
- DevOps experience (Docker, Git, Ansible, Jenkins).
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux, virtualization, and containerization.
- Familiarity with public‑sector procurement frameworks.
- Excellent initiative, rigor, organization, adaptability, and communication skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and user support.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Cisco certification (CCNP or higher) preferred.
- Additional certifications in security (e.g., CCSP, CISSP) or DevOps are advantageous.
