**Job title**
Project Engineer Sustainability (PE Sustainability)
**Role summary**
The PE Sustainability supports the transition from R&D to commercial clinical manufacturing by identifying, evaluating, and implementing sustainability projects within the Puurs Clinical manufacturing facility. The role primarily bridges engineering, operations, and sustainability, ensuring that new facilities, processes, and technologies are designed or operated to minimize environmental impact while maintaining regulatory and product quality standards.
**Expectations**
- Demonstrate ownership of sustainability initiatives, aligning them with business decisions and manufacturing objectives.
- Operate independently in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (engineering, quality, operations, global teams) and external partners.
- Balance strategic analysis with hands‑on execution, including data collection, analyses, and tool development.
- Foster continuous improvement of environmental performance across the manufacturing spectrum.
**Key responsibilities**
1. Identify and evaluate potential sustainability projects specific to Puurs Clinical manufacturing.
2. Gather, analyze, and manage sustainability data across departments and external partners.
3. Develop and maintain assessment tools that quantify the environmental impact of process or facility changes.
4. Ensure new facilities and process upgrades are designed for sustainable operation (energy, water, waste, material use).
5. Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to integrate sustainability criteria into business decisions and project plans.
6. Report progress, outcomes, and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
**Required skills**

- Analytical proficiency in data handling, statistical analysis, and environmental impact assessment.
- Data management skills, including advanced Excel and basic programming (VBA, Python, or similar).

- Fluency in written and spoken English.
**Required education & certifications**
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Prior manufacturing or industrial experience is preferred (e.g., pharmaceutical, aseptic manufacturing).
- Certifications in sustainability, process engineering, or project management (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous but not mandatory.
