Deliver compassionate communication and ethical oversight in patient interactions. **Expectations:** - Work under supervision within a multidisciplinary team. - Ensure timely, accurate, and confidential handling of patient and test information. - Support access to the service for marginalised or hard‑to‑engage families. - Maintain audit compliance and drive continuous improvement of data management processes. **Key Responsibilities:** - Contact healthcare professionals, laboratories, and patients to collect referral data, family histories, and genetic test reports. - Provide pre‑clinic information, verify consent, and explain requirements for relatives’ reports. - Evaluate variant pathogenicity using databases and coordinate laboratory reviews. - Track and manage tissue or genetic test requests, updating clinicians and patients on progress or delays. - Maintain and update spreadsheets, databases, and screening programme records; complete referral forms under guidance. - Liaise with breast screening services, support audit activities, and respond to information requests from other centers. - Communicate sensitively with patients and relatives, recognizing distress, health literacy needs, and learning difficulties. - Assist with sample collection, support clinicians with documentation, and raise ethical concerns when necessary. - Collaborate with genetic counsellors, family history coordinators, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient care. **Required Skills:** - Strong data management and database development abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to discuss sensitive and confidential information with patients. - Detail‑oriented with strong organisational and multitasking skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word) and familiarity with clinical data portals. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Registered nurse or degree in a relevant subject (biology, genetics, biomedical sciences, psychology). - Specialist training or experience in genetics/genomics. - (Desirable) MSc in genetic or genomic counselling or enrolment in such a program. - Knowledge of cancer genetics and experience in a clinical/medical NHS setting is desirable.
