IT Generalist
**Role Summary**
Lead all technology operations for a professional services firm, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient systems. Acts as primary technical resource for staff support, systems administration, cybersecurity, compliance, and infrastructure management.
**Expectations**
- Deliver end‑user support and hardware/software troubleshooting.
- Administer servers, workstations, printers, and network equipment.
- Maintain, monitor, and upgrade Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Exchange Online, and SharePoint.
- Employ endpoint protection, firewalls, email security, and secure remote access.
- Conduct risk assessments, backups, disaster recovery, and incident response.
- Manage routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, LAN/WAN, and cloud/local servers.
- Document systems, procedures, and policies; enforce best practices.
- Communicate technical concepts to non‑technical staff in clear language.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Technical support & end‑user assistance (Windows, macOS, mobile).
- User account and permissions management across all systems.
- Training and onboarding for new hires on firm applications.
- Systems administration: servers, printers, Network infrastructure.
- Manage Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure AD, SharePoint, and document‑management apps (NetDocuments, iManage).
- Implement patches, updates, and performance monitoring.
- Cybersecurity: endpoint protection, EDR, firewalls, secure remote access, email security, anti‑phishing.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ABA, HIPAA).
- Periodic risk assessments, backups, disaster recovery, incident response planning.
- Configuration and monitoring of routers, switches, Wi‑Fi, LAN/WAN.
- Virtual machine and storage solution management.
- Maintain accurate documentation; develop IT policies, best practices.
- Continuously improve processes and user experience.
**Required Skills**
- 8+ years of hands‑on IT experience in a small professional services environment.
- Proficient in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint.
- Strong networking knowledge (routers, switches, LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi).
- End‑user support, troubleshooting, and training ability.
- Cybersecurity fundamentals: endpoint protection, EDR, firewalls, email security.
- Disaster recovery, backup procedures, and incident response.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem‑solving.
- Detail oriented with strong documentation skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
**Required Education & Certifications**
