Job Title: Middleware Administrator
Role Summary: Manage, optimize, and secure middleware and operating‑system environments across Windows, Linux, and virtualized platforms. Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting, performance tuning, upgrades, and compliance of server infrastructure and middleware stacks.
Expactations: Deliver high‑availability middleware services with minimal downtime, maintain accurate documentation, and mentor junior administrators. Collaborate cross‑functionally to align middleware improvements with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows, Linux, and ESX servers in a multi‑datacenter setting.
- Maintain and upgrade middleware components (Apache Tomcat, WildFly, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion Middle Tier) and related web, application, and messaging services (Apache HTTP, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper).
- Deploy and manage containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, RedHat 3scale).
- Implement automation and configuration management (Ansible, shell scripting, PowerShell, Jython).
- Conduct system backups, recovery tests, patching, and licensing management.
- Monitor performance and availability using AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Neustar, and Splunk; analyze alerts and resolve incidents.
- Support Cloud Platform operations on Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure; migrate workloads and maintain cloud‑native integration.
- Mentor and train Linux and Windows Administrators; provide technical leadership for complex issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 8 years as a Systems Administrator with deep experience in Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
- Proficiency in at least two of the following domains: Middle Tier Administration (web/app servers, containers, messaging, cloud services, automation, scripting, monitoring).
- Hands‑on experience with Apache Tomcat, WildFly, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, IBM MQ, Kafka, Zookeeper.
- Strong scripting ability (Linux shell, PowerShell, Jython).
- Expertise in virtualization (VMware ESXi/ESX) and cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
- Solid understanding of licensing, backup, disaster recovery, and high‑availability architectures.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and independent work skills; experience mentoring junior staff.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent middleware/automation courses.
