Job Description
Job Title: Data Security Engineer Role Summary: Develop, deploy, and manage enterprise data security solutions to protect data across on‑premises and cloud environments. Lead risk assessments, policy development, and incident response while ensuring compliance and KPI reporting. Expectations: - Design and implement DLP, encryption, masking, tagging, and governance frameworks. - Conduct risk and vulnerability analyses, including third‑party assessments. - Collaborate cross‑functionally to embed data protection best practices. - Monitor, report, and act on security incidents. - Continuously review and improve policies to meet evolving regulations and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Architect and maintain data security solutions (DLP, encryption, cloud protection). 2. Perform risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and third‑party cyber risk evaluations. 3. Define and enforce data classification, discovery, masking, and tagging protocols. 4. Develop and update data security policies, standards, and governance procedures. 5. Track KPIs, generate reports, and advise leadership on performance. 6. Lead incident response, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. 7. Mentor and collaborate with IT, DevOps, and compliance teams on security initiatives. 8. Stay current with regulatory changes (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and industry best practices. Required Skills: - Deep knowledge of DLP, data discovery, classification, encryption, masking, tagging, and governance. - Experience with cloud data protection on Azure, AWS, or GCP. - Familiarity with Active Directory design and management. - Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, .NET VB/C#). - Understanding of SOC operations, network access management, DNS, and DHCP. - Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. - Minimum 2 years of cybersecurity experience. - Valid cybersecurity certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CCSP, GAIC, MCSE, GICSP, CSSA. Preferred Experience: - 5+ years in data engineering or database architecture/design. - Hands‑on experience with data security technologies and cloud platforms.
