Job Title: Kubernetes Engineer
Role Summary: Execute, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes clusters in a production environment. Oversee Docker container orchestration, manage Windows Server and RHEL/Linux systems, and support VMware virtualization infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across on‑prem server resources.
Expectations: Demonstrate end‑to‑end expertise in Kubernetes deployment, scaling, and troubleshooting. Provide proactive monitoring, apply security best practices, and deliver continuous improvements to on‑prem infrastructure. Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams and produce clear technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters (worker nodes, control plane, add‑ons).
- Build, test, and release Docker images; maintain container registries and CI/CD pipelines.
- Administer Windows Server and RHEL/Linux hosts, apply patches, and enforce security baseline.
- Provision and manage virtual machines using VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX, including networking and storage configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in container, host, and virtualization layers, performing root‑cause analysis.
- Monitor cluster and host health, optimize resource allocations, and ensure compliance with SLAs.
- Create and maintain documentation for architecture, procedures, and incident responses.
Required Skills:
- Hands‑on Kubernetes production experience (cluster setup, upgrades, scaling, operators).
- Docker containerization and orchestration fundamentals.
- Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Hyper‑V, PowerShell).
- RHEL/Linux system administration (yum/dnf, systemd, networking, SELinux).
- VMware vSphere, vSAN, and NSX virtualization skills.
- Familiarity with on‑prem server infrastructure, storage, and network troubleshooting.
- Basic scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent.
- Docker Certified Associate (DCA) or equivalent.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent.
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator (optional but preferred).
