**Job Title:** Director, Engineering
**Role Summary:** Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams focused on building and scaling advertising bidding algorithms that handle millions of bids daily. Drive engineering execution, architecture, and operational excellence while collaborating with Product, Design, Data, QA, and executive stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and customer‑centric solutions.
**Expactations:**
- 7+ years in software engineering roles, 3+ years managing engineering staff (managers, senior/staff engineers) in SaaS, ecommerce, or tech‑driven environments.
- Proven ability to build, scale, and operate high‑availability, data‑intensive systems.
- Strong collaborator and communicator, capable of translating technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Passion for people development, inclusive culture, and continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams; set goals, processes, and best practices.
- Drive timely, high‑quality product releases through clear execution plans.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally (Product, Design, Data, QA) to align technical work with business objectives.
- Guide architectural decisions ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and cost‑efficiency.
- Promote engineering excellence via code reviews, design reviews, and a culture of learning.
- Recruit, hire, and develop top engineering talent, emphasizing diversity and inclusion.
- Own incident management, technical debt remediation, and platform reliability initiatives.
- Represent engineering in strategic planning, road‑mapping, and executive forums.
**Required Skills:**
- Leadership: team building, mentoring, performance management, hiring, and culture development.
- Technical: web‑based platforms, data‑intensive systems; hands‑on experience with Python, Django/Flask, ReactJS, Airflow.
- Cloud: GCP, AWS, or Azure (architecture, deployment, cost management).
- Architectural: scalable, reliable, secure systems design.
- Operational: incident response, monitoring, technical debt strategy.
- Communication: clear articulation of technical ideas to business and technical audiences.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent are a plus.
