**Job Title**
Senior Structural Engineer
**Role Summary**
Lead structural design and engineering within a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from new builds and refurbishments to specialist and high‑value schemes. Provide technical ownership, client liaison, site oversight, and deliver sustainable, compliant solutions while supporting professional development and chartership training.
**Expectations**
- Take responsibility for design and delivery of projects under approved supervision.
- Participate actively in on‑site activities, client meetings, and project reviews.
- Maintain high professional standards, meet deadlines, and adhere to budget and quality targets.
- Engage in continuous professional development through IPD and CPD activities.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Lead structural analysis, detailing, and design for new construction, refurbishment, cut‑and‑carve, historic works, and specialist schemes (e.g., pharmaceutical, blue‑light, high‑end residential).
2. Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, defect reports, and cost estimates.
3. Conduct site visits, obtain and interpret surveys, and deliver technical briefings to clients and contractors.
4. Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams (architecture, MEP, contractors) to resolve conflicts and integrate design solutions.
5. Manage temporary works design and documentation when required.
6. Promote and implement sustainable design practices, ensuring compliance with current UK regulations and client expectations.
7. Support colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentoring as part of a collaborative culture.
8. Contribute to and record progress in project management systems, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
**Required Skills**
- Advanced structural design and analysis proficiency, including multi‑storey buildings.
- Expertise in industry standard software: Revit Architecture, BIM, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and client‑facing communication.
- Ability to manage independent tasks while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, BREEAM/LEED standards, and sustainability principles.
- Familiarity with temporary works, defect investigation, and historic refurbishment techniques.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Current UK engineering registration (CEng or IEng) or eligibility to apply.
- Pursuit or attainment of chartership (preferred).
