Enterprise Data Architect
**Role Summary**
Responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the technical architecture for the Alberta Courts ecosystem, aligning technology with business strategy, and ensuring consistent, secure, and cost‑effective solutions across all system, service, and infrastructure initiatives.
**Expectations**
- Lead end‑to‑end architecture activities for large‑scale transformation projects.
- Act as the primary steward of enterprise architecture standards, principles, and governance.
- Communicate and advocate architecture vision to senior stakeholders, solution architects, and engineering teams.
- Deliver high‑quality, actionable architecture documentation and models.
- Resolve technical debt and optimize costs while safeguarding data and system security.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop, maintain, and evolve Enterprise Architecture frameworks and governing artifacts.
- Assess current‑state architecture and design target‑state architectures aligned with business objectives.
- Guide and support solution architects and engineering teams through the architectural review lifecycle.
- Set and enforce architecture standards, principles, and governance processes.
- Evaluate, recommend, and validate new technologies and platforms.
- Model business processes, capabilities, and data flows using industry standards.
- Manage risk, security, and compliance requirements across the technology portfolio.
- Optimize costs, manage technical debt, and report architecture health metrics.
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
**Required Skills**
- Enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, FEAF).
- Business process and data modeling (BPMN, UML, ER modeling).
- Strategic planning and alignment of IT with business strategy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Risk and security management in regulated environments.
- Governance, standards, and policy development.
- Experience with large‑scale transformation and integration projects.
- Cost analysis and technical debt mitigation.
- Proficiency with architectural modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, Sparx Systems).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Professional architecture certification preferred (TOGAF Certified, Zachman Certified, etc.).
- Additional certifications in security (CISSP, CISA) or project management (PMP) are a plus.
