Senior Manager – Cloud Platform Engineering & Operations
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, engineering, operation, and transformation of AWS-based cloud platforms. Drive platform excellence, automation, security, and reliability while managing migration initiatives, DevOps practices, and vendor relationships. Mentor a high‑performance team and align cloud strategy with enterprise objectives.
**Expectations**
- Oversee all aspects of AWS cloud operations (EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, Lambda, Data Lake, etc.) for production workloads.
- Lead application migration and modernization projects, including lift‑shift, re‑platforming, refactoring, and containerization.
- Establish and enforce CI/CD, IaC, observability, and security practices across the organization.
- Manage service‑level agreements, incident response, and disaster recovery for cloud services.
- Represent cloud initiatives in executive and cross‑functional stakeholder meetings.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. **Platform Engineering & Operations** – Design, build, and operate AWS services; manage patching, monitoring, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
2. **Automation & IaC** – Drive Terraform, CloudFormation, and automation for self‑service and standardization.
3. **Security & Compliance** – Implement Dynatrace, Qualys, AWS Backup; ensure InfoSec, audit, and governance compliance.
4. **Application Migration** – Lead lift‑shift, re‑platforming, refactoring; collaborate with architects on modernization roadmaps.
5. **DevOps & Tooling** – Govern CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodeSuite, ArgoCD), container platforms (EKS, ECS), API management (Kong), and security scanning (CheckMarx).
6. **Service Management** – Own incident, problem, change processes via ServiceNow; maintain SLA compliance and business continuity plans.
7. **Stakeholder & Vendor Management** – Engage application owners, InfoSec, compliance, and business stakeholders; manage vendor contracts and performance.
8. **Leadership & People Development** – Mentor cloud teams, drive training and certification, conduct performance reviews, and plan succession.
**Required Skills**
- **Programming & Automation**: Python, Shell scripting (basic).
- **Infrastructure as Code**: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation (intermediate).
- **AWS Cloud**: EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, Data Lake, Systems Manager (intermediate).
- **Architecture**: AWS Well‑Architected Framework, high availability, scalability, security principles (intermediate).
- **DevOps & SDLC**: CI/CD pipelines, AWS CodeSuite, ArgoCD, Git, automated testing, release management (basic).
- **Containers & Orchestration**: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS) (basic).
- **ITSM Tools**: ServiceNow for incident, change, problem (expert).
- **Soft Skills**: Leadership presence, strategic thinking, cross‑functional collaboration, communication, problem solving, change leadership.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (minimum).
- Senior managerial experience in cloud platform engineering (8+ years).
- AWS certifications preferred: Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional, or equivalent.
