Job Description
Job Title: Volume Capture, Stage Operator Role Summary: Operates and oversees volumetric capture and virtual production stages, ensuring data quality, equipment calibration, and on‑set workflow integrity for live creative shoots. Works with directors and technical supervisors to implement LED wall VFX, Lidar calibration, and camera tracking systems, bridging hardware and software pipelines. Expactations: - Deliver high‑quality capture data and system readiness under tight production schedules. - Maintain professionalism and problem‑solving skills in high‑pressure environments. - Travel globally to on‑set locations as required. Key Responsibilities - Validate capture data quality, flag and resolve issues during VC shoots. - Track camera inventory, status, and maintenance. - Test and QC volumetric capture systems following established workflows. - Assemble and modify physical volume sets, prepare stages for client and production needs. - Ensure correct setup, calibration, and routing of all video signals. - Calibrate Lidar VC stages and integrate results into the processing pipeline. - Perform camera tracking and calibration via Motive and Optitrak; integrate outputs. - Store and archive shoot data and reference materials to meet quality standards prior to handover. - Communicate concerns proactively to relevant team members. Required Skills - Advanced knowledge of on‑set digital acquisition hardware and motion capture tech. - Proficiency with Lidar, LED wall systems, VR, photogrammetry, and real‑time rendering in Unreal Engine. - Strong understanding of still photography, film and video production fundamentals. - Expertise in practical lighting, camera tracking, and operating systems. - Ability to execute complex technical tasks under live production pressure. - Creative problem‑solving with improvisation of quick fixes and tools. - Programming skills in Python or C++ are a plus. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Film, Computer Science, or a related field. - Minimum 3 years of experience in motion capture projects, technology, and VFX production. - Proven track record with real‑time rendering and UE environments.
