Job Description
Job title: Scanning Technical Director Role Summary: Lead development and optimization of 3D scanning data workflows and technical infrastructure, ensuring seamless, scalable, and automated processing from capture to integration in VFX, 3D, and game pipelines. Expactations: - 5+ years in pipeline development, 3D scanning, VFX, or game production. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. - Advanced scripting in Python, MEL, Bash. - Extensive use of DCC tools (Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine). - Strong knowledge of photogrammetry, point clouds, and pipeline APIs. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain automated tools and scripts for scanning workflows. - Develop and optimize infrastructure for reliable data flow across all pipeline stages. - Integrate scan data into production pipelines, ensuring compatibility and usability. - Troubleshoot technical issues in data alignment, mesh processing, texture integration. - Research and evaluate new scanning hardware/software, implementing improvements. - Support supervisors and production teams with technical setup and ongoing enhancements. - Collaborate with engineers, R&D, and post‑production to meet technical requirements. - Maintain systems for data optimization, automation, and scalability. Required Skills: - Scripting: Python, MEL, Bash. - DCC proficiency: Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine. - Pipeline architecture, API integration, photogrammetry, point cloud processing. - Automation, data workflow optimization, and scalability. - Problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and technical reliability. - Communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. - Ability to research and adopt emerging technologies.
