Job title: Senior Linux Kubernetes Engineer
Role Summary: Lead the design, deployment, and operation of highly automated Linux and on‑premises Kubernetes environments for a financial institution, driving performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
Expactations: Deliver mission‑critical infrastructure with zero downtime, maintain compliance with security benchmarks, and continuously improve automation and observability for all platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize Linux infrastructure, tuning kernel parameters and scaling resources.
- Design, install, and maintain on‑premises Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm, RKE, or OpenShift.
- Develop system‑level software, middleware, and APIs to support internal services.
- Automate workflows with Python, Bash, and configuration management (SaltStack, Puppet, Ansible).
- Build and maintain RPM packages and internal repository management.
- Collaborate with SRE, Development, and Security teams for secure CI/CD pipelines and platform integration.
- Troubleshoot complex OS, network, and container runtime issues.
- Implement hardened security configurations and identity/access controls.
- Participate in on‑call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
- Document system architectures, tools, and operational procedures.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years Linux system administration and infrastructure engineering.
- Proven experience with bare‑metal/on‑prem Kubernetes (kubeadm, RKE, OpenShift).
- Strong Python and Bash scripting; experience building RPMs.
- Deep Linux internals knowledge, kernel tuning, performance diagnostics.
- Proficiency with SaltStack (preferred) or Puppet/Ansible.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and related observability tools.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP/PTP, DHCP, and other core protocols.
- CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitLab, or equivalent).
- Excellent troubleshooting, proactive problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- RHCE, LFCE, or equivalent Linux certification.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
