Job Description
Job Title: BFA Accountant Role Summary Provide financial analytics, strategic support and steward an operating budget for a diversified business operation, reporting to a Senior Accountant. Expectations Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, support budgeting, forecasting, and decision‑making, and improve financial processes while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Key Responsibilities - Prepare and analyze operating budgets, forecasts and variance reports. - Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis against budget, projections and historical trends. - Record and post transactions in SAP, complete month‑end cut‑off, and maintain accurate trial balances. - Produce monthly GST reports and support non‑consolidated working papers. - Provide financial analytics and consulting to department managers and senior leadership to support business cases, capital planning and strategic initiatives. - Maintain and improve financial systems/models, ensuring compliance with procedures and GAAP. - Communicate financial insights to stakeholders and uphold professional standards and customer service. Required Skills - Proficiency in SAP, Google Sheets, Excel and related financial systems. - Strong analytical, conceptual and problem‑solving skills. - Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and close processes for revenue, expense, GL, reserves and equity. - Understanding of corporate policies, GAAP, CICA Handbook and Public Accounting Standards. - Excellent communication, stakeholder management and customer service. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce or Management. - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA, CGA or equivalent). - Minimum 3 years progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in a public sector environment and in financial analytics roles.
