**Job Title:** Database Administrator – Microsoft SQL Server (Senior)
**Role Summary:**
Senior DBA responsible for the operation, performance tuning, and reliability of critical Microsoft SQL Server environments supporting high‑traffic e‑commerce platforms and internal business applications. Ensures 24/7 availability, implements replication and disaster‑recovery solutions, and collaborates with development, DevOps, infrastructure, network, and security teams.
**Expectations:**
- Maintain continuous monitoring and rapid incident response for production SQL Server instances.
- Optimize database performance and support development teams in query tuning.
- Manage and improve replication (including merge replication) and backup/restore processes.
- Contribute to Business Continuity (PRA) planning, testing, and documentation.
- Produce clear technical documentation and share best practices.
- Operate autonomously in a high‑urgency, production‑focused environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Daily administration of SQL Server clusters: health checks, alert handling (SQL Monitor), and preventive maintenance.
- Diagnose and resolve performance, availability, and replication issues; implement corrective actions.
- Analyze execution plans, define indexing strategies, and guide developers on query optimization.
- Review and enhance maintenance plans (index rebuilds, statistics updates, integrity checks).
- Oversee replication topology, with emphasis on merge replication, ensuring data consistency.
- Participate in design, implementation, and testing of disaster‑recovery (PRA) procedures; document restoration and failover scenarios.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, providing expertise and recommendations for architecture resilience.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for databases, procedures, indexes, and PRA processes.
**Required Skills:**
- 5‑7+ years of hands‑on administration of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2017/2019 or newer).
- Deep expertise in performance tuning, indexing, and execution‑plan analysis.
- Proven experience with SQL Server replication, especially merge replication.
- Strong knowledge of high‑availability, backup/restore, and disaster‑recovery concepts.
- Familiarity with e‑commerce environments and 24/7 production workloads.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize urgent issues, and act autonomously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary groups.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Monitor) and scripting (T‑SQL, PowerShell).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator (MCSA/MCSE) or similar SQL Server certifications.
