Job title: SAP iXp Intern – AI/ML
Role Summary:
Summer 6‑month paid internship for a university student in AI & Machine Learning. The intern will collaborate with senior data scientists and engineers to ingest, clean, model, and deploy intelligent systems for SAP’s products, covering data engineering, model development, GenAI/LLM integration, and MLOps.
Expectations:
* Deliver model‑ready datasets, trained AI/ML models, and production‑ready containers.
* Conduct hyperparameter tuning, A/B testing, and error analysis to meet specified precision/recall targets.
* Produce research notes and technical documentation for internal knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect, clean, and preprocess large‑scale structured and unstructured data for model training.
* Design and implement supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning pipelines using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
* Perform experiments, including hyperparameter search, A/B testing, and performance tracing.
* Build GenAI/LLM components: prompt engineering, fine‑tuning, and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines.
* Containerize and deploy models with Docker; assist in monitoring and maintaining production performance.
* Keep abreast of state‑of‑the‑art AI research (e.g., arXiv) and synthesize findings for the engineering team.
Required Skills:
* Strong programming in Python, familiarity with PyTorch/TensorFlow.
* Knowledge of data wrangling, feature engineering, and handling of large datasets.
* Understanding of ML concepts (regression, classification, clustering, deep learning).
* Basics of containerization (Docker) and model deployment workflows.
* Experience with version control (Git) and documentation tools.
* Excellent problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical thinking.
* Curious, self‑motivated, and continuous learner of new AI tools and libraries.
Required Education & Certifications:
* Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 6 months) from a BS, MS, or PhD program in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
* Enrollment in coding bootcamps or apprenticeships acceptable for recent graduates.
* No specific certifications required, but knowledge of ML frameworks and data engineering is essential.
