Job Description
Job Title Intern, Civil Engineering – Transportation (Rail & Transit) Role Summary 8–12 month co‑op student supporting the Rail & Transit track team on heavy and light rail projects. Responsibilities include drafting in Civil 3D, preparing contract documents, performing quantity and cost calculations, facilitating interface coordination, and contributing to reports and proposals. Expectations - Deliver high‑quality engineering trade‑off drawings and documentation. - Manage tight schedules and adapt to changing priorities. - Work collaboratively with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. - Participate in field activities as required and follow HSE guidelines. Key Responsibilities - Draft and update engineering drawings in Civil 3D. - Create and maintain contract documents, quantity take‑offs, and cost calculations. - Assist in report writing and proposal preparation. - Facilitate meetings with designers and clients to discuss and manage track interfaces. - Perform general office duties and support project management tasks. - Conduct limited field work to gather data and verify design intent. - Undertake additional duties as assigned by project managers or coordinators. Required Skills - Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD. - Strong analytical, technical writing, and presentation abilities. - Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, spreadsheets). - Excellent verbal and written communication. - Team‑collaboration skills and adaptability. - Willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Required Education & Certifications - Enrolled in a Civil Engineering co‑op program (preferably 3rd or 4th year). - Excellent academic record. - Familiarity with HSE practices; able to perform field tasks in varied environmental conditions.
