Job Description
**Job Title** Authorised Person **Role Summary** Authorise, supervise, and ensure safe execution of electrical commissioning and maintenance activities on low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) systems. Enforce hazardous energy control, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO) procedures, and site‑specific safety protocols while coordinating with contractors and internal stakeholders. **Expectations** - Adhere to all relevant safety standards and electrical regulations. - Maintain accurate documentation of all commissioning, testing, and safety activities. - Actively contribute to audits, incident reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Review and approve contractor Electrical RAMS, COHE, and relevant safety procedures. 2. Operate LOTO systems and supervise safe energisation/isolation during commissioning. 3. Enforce Permit to Work, Lock‑out Tag‑out, and Site‑Specific Electrical Safe System of Work (ESSOW). 4. Inspect and verify hazardous zone segregation and PPE usage. 5. Report electrical incidents to SAP and Energy Marshall. 6. Conduct pre‑energisation inspections, live‑de‑dead‑live testing, and post‑connection checks. 7. Authorise energisation/isolation requests after meeting all safety criteria. 8. Assist senior Authorised Persons with internal audits (COHE, temporary electrics). 9. Maintain compliance with EN and local code regulations, including colour vision testing. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in interpreting single line diagrams, wiring schematics, and electrical drawings. - Strong knowledge of LOTO, ESSOW, and hazardous energy control. - Experience in commissioning MCCs, VSDs, distribution panels, motors, lighting, and small power circuits. - Skilled in insulation resistance, point‑to‑point, grounding, and live‑de‑dead‑live testing. - Ability to enforce arc‑flash mitigation, select and maintain PPE, and perform switchgear inspections. - Self‑directed audit and documentation competence (pre‑energisation checklists, punchlists). **Required Education & Certifications** - Qualified electrician with a National Craft Certificate or equivalent within the jurisdiction (verified by Naric). *OR* - Electrical award equivalent to Level 6 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications. - Mandatory completion of a recognised course in Verification, Testing and Certification (where required). - Valid colour vision test results. ---
