Signal Processing Intern
**Role Summary**
A 12‑week internship focused on designing and implementing digital signal processing (DSP) and machine‑learning algorithms for autonomous vehicle sensor systems (radar, lidar, depth cameras, and audio). Interns will develop core signal‑processing pipelines, support hardware/software integration, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
**Expectations**
- Enrolled in a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree program in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
- Good academic standing and availability to commit fully for 12 weeks beginning May or June 2026.
- Prior industry internship, co‑op, or relevant project experience.
- Willing to relocate to the Bay Area for the duration of the internship.
- Must maintain confidentiality of proprietary research during and after the internship.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, code, and optimize DSP algorithms (e.g., FFT, CFAR, range‑Doppler, angle‑of‑arrival estimation) for radar and lidar streams.
- Develop machine‑learning models (CNN, RNN, DNN, LSTM, etc.) for sensor perception and feature extraction.
- Process raw sensor data (ADC, 4‑D radar, camera, audio) into usable metrics for higher‑level systems.
- Validate and debug algorithms in C, C++, Python, and/or MATLAB environments.
- Document algorithm design, performance metrics, and integration steps.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and AI teams to ensure seamless sensor‑system operation.
- Contribute to iterative testing, performance tuning, and scalability assessments.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
- Strong foundation in Digital Signal Processing, Circuits & Systems, Stochastic Filtering, Probability & Statistics, Random Signals and Noise.
- Experience in algorithm design for radar or lidar signal processing.
- Excellent mathematical and statistical analysis abilities.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, adaptability, and proactive communication.
**Bonus Qualifications**
- Prior radar signal‑processing pipeline experience (ADC → FFT → CFAR → angle estimation).
- Exposure to 4‑D radar data or raw sensor‑data pipelines.
- Hardware/software experience or research in radar perception.
- Knowledge of machine‑learning techniques (deep neural nets, CNNs, LSTMs, Transformers, GMM, HMM, NMF, spectrograms).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Current enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- No specific certifications required.
