**Job Title:** Telecom Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of wired and wireless telecom systems for critical operational environments across energy, transportation, and carrier sectors. Produce engineering documentation, project scopes, proposals, estimates, and budgets. Coordinate installation, commissioning, and integration activities with clients and contractors, while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver complete telecom system designs and associated engineering documents within project timelines.
- Maintain accurate project records, including calculations, bill of materials, and return‑of‑investment data.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, presenting technical information clearly and professionally.
- Travel to project sites as required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop schematics, design diagrams, and technical specifications for telecom networks (OSI layers 1–4).
- Write project scopes, proposals, cost estimates, and budgets.
- Prepare and review engineering documents, inspection and testing procedures.
- Generate bills of materials and support procurement processes.
- Plan and coordinate installation, commissioning, and hand‑off to operations.
- Travel to sites to verify installations, lead commissioning activities, and respond to information requests.
- Update and maintain project documentation, including record drawings, calculations, and return‑of‑investment reports.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficient in designing and deploying wired and wireless telecom networks (DWDM, MPLS‑TP, SONET/SDH, Microwave, Satellite, LAN Switching/VLAN, IP/MPLS, QoS, traffic engineering).
- Knowledge of telecom power systems, firewalling, and telecom accessories.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear technical documents and deliver presentations.
- Excellent organization and time‑management; capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and external contractors.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work independently in a hybrid environment.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- Preferred additional certifications:
- Nokia NRS II or Nokia Certified Service Routing Architect (SRA)
- CCIE/JNCIE or equivalent advanced routing architecture certification
- Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, ISA/IEC 62443, or similar
