Job Description
Job title: Security Engineer Role Summary Assist the Director of Information Security and Compliance in safeguarding Overstory’s systems. Manage the compliance platform (SOC 2, ISO 27001), monitor vulnerabilities, provide limited IT support, conduct vendor reviews, and support audit readiness and customer security communications. Expectations • 2 + years of experience in IT support, security engineering, or compliance. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, security frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001. • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and processes. • Hands‑on troubleshooting of macOS, Windows, SaaS tools, and identity management. • Strong written communication, attention to detail, proactive mindset, and collaborative remote work culture. Key Responsibilities 1. Maintain and improve the compliance platform to meet SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other framework requirements. 2. Monitor and track infrastructure and application vulnerabilities; coordinate remediation with engineering teams. 3. Provide limited IT support for onboarding, off‑boarding, access management, and endpoint security. 4. Conduct vendor security reviews to manage third‑party risk. 5. Support audit compliance (SOC 2/ISO 27001) through evidence collection and control monitoring. 6. Assist with customer security questionnaires and maintain a knowledge base of standard responses. Required Skills • IT support experience (macOS, Windows, SaaS, identity management). • Vulnerability management (scheduling scans, triaging findings). • Understanding of security frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001). • Strong written communication and documentation. • Analytical, detail‑oriented, and proactive. • Ability to collaborate across remote teams. Required Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (preferred). • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar (preferred).
