Based in Birmingham, we recruit permanent and temporary staff across the Midlands for a full range of office support and executive roles starting at graduate entry through to executive level - including the following: PA/EA Secretarial Administration/ Office Assistant Reception/ Front of house Office Management Call Centre Assistant Graduate Customer Service We work with great people. Our clients range from blue chip multinationals to one man businesses; and candidates are fresh graduates to experienced executives. As part of Angela Mortimer Plc every year the group places circa 2,500 candidates in permanent roles and every day we have approximately 1,000 temporary staff on site. How do we do it? **Job title** Payroll & Benefits Specialist **Role Summary** Administer end‑to‑end payroll for salaried and casual staff on a fortnightly and monthly schedule. Act as the primary liaison for payroll and benefits queries, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing. Support auto‑enrolment, pension and reward operations, assist with HR reporting, and engage with external providers. **Expectations** - Deliver error‑free payroll within statutory deadlines. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK payroll legislation and benefit regulations. - Provide clear guidance on pay, deductions and rewards to employees. - Respond swiftly to payroll/benefits inquiries and resolve issues efficiently. - Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and data quality. **Key Responsibilities** - Process full payroll cycle for all employee types, including sales, salaried, and casual staff. - Administer employee benefits programmes and handle related enquiries. - Coordinate pension enrollment and reward operations with internal teams and external providers. - Manage payroll data, HR reporting and payroll-related documentation. - Support month‑end and year‑end payroll operations. - Resolve payroll queries and support auto‑enrolment compliance. **Required Skills** - In‑depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and benefits. - Proven experience managing a large payroll (weekly & monthly) from start to finish. - Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Ceridian) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. - Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail and analytical capability. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to explain complex payroll concepts clearly. - Problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or related field (preferred). - Payroll certification (e.g., CIPD Level 3, Certified Payroll Professional, or equivalent) is an advantage.
