Job Description
**Job Title:** Accounting Analyst **Role Summary:** The Accounting Analyst supports financial standards compliance and operational efficiency across Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain. Responsible for ensuring accurate trade vendor payables, preparing month‑end accruals, analysing gross margin and balance sheet reconciliations, and providing data‑driven insights for decision‑making. The role requires strong analytical and Excel skills, cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to streamline financial processes and reporting. **Expactations:** - Deliver accurate and timely financial data with zero holds on vendor payables. - Produce timely month‑end financial statements, accruals, and reconciliations. - Provide actionable insights to business units and finance leadership. - Continuously improve processes to reduce errors and enhance workflow. - Maintain compliance with internal controls and audit requirements. **Key Responsibilities:** - Consult with trade vendors and internal teams to navigate payables/receivables processes and improve transaction efficiency. - Prepare month‑end accruals, allocations, gross margin analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations. - Analyze operational performance against budgets and key metrics. - Respond to business unit inquiries with data‑driven insights. - Enhance internal procedures to reduce errors and improve workflow efficiency. - Assist with financial forecasting, annual corporate plans, and ad‑hoc reporting. - Leverage data tools to identify opportunities and support continuous improvement. - Collaborate as a key member of the finance team and cross‑functional partners. **Required Skills:** - Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, advanced functions). - Strong communication skills; ability to articulate insights clearly. - Experience with data mining, BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). - Familiarity with financial systems (Oracle preferred). - Analytical, resourceful, and confident in decision‑making. - Effective prioritization of deadlines and adaptability to shifting priorities. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Knowledge of P&L statements, balance sheets, and core financial/audit concepts. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting. - 3+ years of experience as an Accounting Analyst (retail/CPG experience a strong asset). - Working toward CPA designation (preferred).
