Job Description
**Job Title:** Backend Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, build, and ship high‑performance APIs and distributed services that power the company’s SaaS platform. Take full ownership from spec to production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability while collaborating closely with product, data, and client‑support teams. **Expectations:** - Deliver production code from Day 1 and maintain it. - Own feature specifications, architectural decisions, and end‑to‑end development. - Resolve complex scaling, performance, and security challenges. - Participate in customer support and sprint reviews. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and refactor REST/GraphQL APIs in Python, TypeScript, Go, or Rust. - Architect and maintain micro‑service components and distributed systems. - Design relational and graph database schemas; write efficient queries. - Deploy and manage services on cloud environments (AWS) using containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). - Configure infrastructure and pipelines with IaC tools (Pulumi, Terraform). - Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production workloads (latency, throughput). - Collaborate with front‑end, data, and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions. - Lead code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers. **Required Skills:** - 2+ years of professional backend development experience. - Proficiency in Python or TypeScript; knowledge of Go or Rust advantageous. - Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts (message queues, eventual consistency, fault tolerance). - Hands‑on experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and graph (Neo4j, AWS Neptune) databases. - Expertise in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). - Cloud architecture skills with AWS (EC2, RDS, ECS/EKS, Lambda). - Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Pulumi or Terraform. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and ownership mindset. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). - Optional: AWS Certified Developer, DevOps Engineer, or comparable cloud certification.
