Job title: Cloud Architect
Role Summary:
Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and compliant cloud solutions for public sector health organisations. Lead architecture decisions, oversee infrastructure as code, ensure integration fidelity, and drive automation across AWS or Azure platforms.
Expectations:
- 5+ years in federal/provincial/public‑sector healthcare IT.
- Demonstrated leadership in large, complex health‑IT projects.
- Strong understanding of ministry policy, IT approval processes, and enterprise architecture artefacts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect cloud solutions (AWS or Azure) using industry‑standard patterns and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) for high‑availability, compliance, and cost‑efficiency.
- Define data governance, data modelling, and Integration architecture (REST, SOAP, event‑driven, batch).
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerised services (Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring (CloudWatch, Prometheus).
- Produce technical documentation compliant with public‑sector standards (TOGAF, ISO, GDPR/PHIPA).
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable designs.
Required Skills:
- Cloud platforms: AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch) or Azure.
- IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Integration: REST APIs, SOAP, event streaming, publish/subscribe, message queues.
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Development: Java, JavaScript, React; database design with Oracle, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS.
- Monitoring & logging: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Collaboration tools: JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent (Azure solutions) – preferred.
- Certifications in data governance, FHIR implementation, or public‑sector enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF) are an asset.
