Job Description
Job title: Network Cyber Security Analyst Role Summary: Provide ongoing cybersecurity support for a Texas state agency by evaluating security tools, identifying gaps, implementing risk mitigation, monitoring network activity, responding to incidents, and maintaining documentation and stakeholder communication in a regulated environment. Expactations: Demonstrate 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity tool evaluation, risk assessment, incident response, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration; possess strong written and verbal communication; ability to perform basic project management; familiarity with government or regulated environments preferred. Key Responsibilities: - Evaluate existing cybersecurity tools and controls, identify gaps, and recommend remediation. - Develop and implement risk reduction and remediation plans. - Install, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain security software and hardware. - Apply system and security patches in accordance with standards. - Monitor network traffic, logs, and alerts for suspicious activity. - Investigate security incidents and support remediation efforts. - Create and maintain project documentation: plans, status reports, briefings, stakeholder materials. - Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex security issues. - Conduct research, interviews, workshops to understand organizational goals. - Perform basic project management tasks: charters, risk/resource management, communication. - Edit and manage technical documentation for clarity and consistency. Required Skills: - Cybersecurity tools and controls evaluation - Risk assessment and mitigation - Incident monitoring and response - Security patch management - Documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication - Basic IT project management - Strong written and verbal communication - Experience in regulated or government environments (preferred) Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
