Job Description: **Job Title:** Motor Control Software Development Intern (Summer 2026) **Role Summary:** Support a small engineering team in designing, validating, and testing motor‑control systems for an electric vertical‑takeoff‑and‑landing aircraft. Develop algorithms, conduct simulations, integrate hardware, and perform data analysis while gaining experience comparable to a full‑time engineering role. **Expectations:** - Available for the Summer 2026 internship period. - Demonstrate strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork abilities. - Show eagerness to learn, accept mentorship, and adapt to evolving tasks. - Maintain a positive, energetic attitude and professional work ethic. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and implement motor‑control algorithms using Model‑Based Design (MATLAB/Simulink). - Test and debug motor‑control software/firmware in simulation and physical test benches. - Assist with hardware integration, troubleshooting, and verification of electric motor systems. - Analyze simulation and field‑test data, document procedures, and present findings. - Participate in root‑cause and failure analyses of motor‑control issues. **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of AC electric motors, motor‑drive operation, and control theory. - Proficiency in linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design. - Familiarity with power‑electronics hardware and systems. - Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation. - Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and written/oral communication skills. **Desired Skills (nice‑to‑have):** - Version control (Git). - Embedded‑systems development and FPGA exposure. - Programming in C/C++, Python, or similar for data analysis. - Electronics CAD (e.g., Altium). - Experience with high‑voltage systems. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in a Master’s program or higher (Ph.D. preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. - No specific certifications required; relevant coursework or project experience in motor control, power electronics, or embedded systems is expected.
