**Job Title**
Field Engineer – NetApp
**Role Summary**
Provide on‑site design, configuration, upgrade, and support of NetApp storage solutions, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and integration with networking and cloud platforms.
**Expectations**
- Minimum 3 years of experience in storage or networking engineering.
- NetApp NCSIE certification and a recognized networking certification (e.g., CCNA/CCNP).
- Willingness to travel extensively (≈50‑75 % of time during first 6‑12 months, thereafter primarily day or short‑duration trips).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, deploy, and troubleshoot NetApp FAS, AFF, ASA, and E‑Series hardware, including cDOT and SANtricity OS.
- Execute controller upgrades, firmware patches, and performance tuning.
- Configure NetApp networking: VLANs, VIFs, LIFs, MTUs, TCP options, and IFGRPs.
- Perform switch‑to‑switchless conversions and manage NFS, SMB, FC, FCoE, and iSCSI protocols for NAS and SAN environments.
- Document solution designs, change plans, and post‑implementation closures.
- Communicate technical details to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Travel to customer sites to install, test, and support solutions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on FlexPod, VMware, AWS, and Azure integrations.
**Required Skills**
- Deep knowledge of NetApp storage systems (FAS, AFF, ASA, E‑Series).
- Proficiency in cDOT, SANtricity OS, and controller upgrade procedures.
- Networking expertise: VLANs, LIFs, MTUs, TCP/IP, IFGRPs.
- Experience with NFS, SMB, FC, FCoE, iSCSI protocols.
- Scripting proficiency in Python and PowerShell.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Self‑directed, adaptable, and able to work independently.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- NetApp Certified Solution Engineer – Information eXchange (NCSIE).
- Networking certification (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license and readiness for frequent travel.
