Job Description
**Job Title** Automation Technician – Electrical & Industrial Automation **Role Summary** Design, evaluate, and implement electrical and automation solutions for industrial equipment. Conduct electrical studies, develop automation upgrades, execute retrofits, and program PLCs, HMIs, and robots on site. Work independently while coordinating with the departmental lead and client teams. **Expectations** - Deliver reliable automation projects that enhance performance and extend equipment life. - Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings accurately. - Apply systematic problem‑solving to implement timely, efficient solutions. - Communicate clearly with clients and maintenance teams, ensuring smooth hand‑over of projects. **Key Responsibilities** - Prepare electrical and automation studies for existing processes. - Design and propose optimisation solutions for plant operations. - Plan, execute, and validate retrofit projects to modernise industrial equipment. - Integrate and program PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems on client sites. - Perform on‑site commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting. - Maintain project documentation and update maintenance records. - Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (electricians, mechanical technicians, and project managers). **Required Skills** - Proficient in industrial electrical systems and automation controls. - Strong PLC programming (e.g., IEC 61131‑3, ladder, structured text). - Competent with HMI configuration and basic robotics integration. - Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings. - Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills. - Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. - Highly organized, self‑directed, and adaptive to diverse client environments. **Required Education & Certifications** - Minimum of a technical bachelor’s degree (Bac+2 or equivalent) in Electrical Maintenance, Automation, or Industrial Electrical Engineering. - Certifications in PLC programming and industrial automation (e.g., Siemens S7/200/300/400, Rockwell PLC, or equivalent) are preferred. - Ongoing professional development in newer automation technologies is an asset.
