Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer II, Backend Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain Python‑based backend services for a medical device platform using FastAPI/Django, Docker, and AWS. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and well‑tested APIs that support internal and external users, data pipelines, and HL7 integrations. Expectations: - Deliver production‑ready code within an agile, fast‑paced environment. - Follow engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, and documentation. - Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision‑making. - Take ownership of end‑to‑end feature lifecycles and infrastructure concerns when required. Key Responsibilities: - Build and refactor Python services with FastAPI or Django/Django REST Framework. - Implement and maintain AWS resources (EKS, S3, RDS/PostgreSQL, SQS, MSK/Kafka, RabbitMQ). - Develop data pipelines and interfaces utilizing Kafka. - Integrate HL7 standards for system interoperability. - Write CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and manage Docker/Kubernetes deployments. - Collaborate with product managers, designers, front‑end engineers, ML engineers, and infrastructure teams. - Ensure compliance with medical device software standards through thorough testing, documentation, and code quality practices. Required Skills: - 2+ years of full life‑cycle Python development experience. - Proficiency in FastAPI or Django + DRF. - Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented design. - Experience with AWS services and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). - Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.). - Ability to design scalable, maintainable APIs and data pipelines. - Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills. - Comfortable working autonomously and in distributed teams. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent technical field. - No additional certifications required, though knowledge of software‑engineering principles and AWS best practices is preferred.
