Job Description
**Job Title** Senior Civil Project Engineer **Role Summary** Leads the engineering design and execution of complex civil projects for electric substations. Provides technical direction, mentorship, and project management across multi‑disciplinary teams to achieve safe, reliable, and code‑compliant infrastructure. **Expectations** - Mastery of civil/structural engineering principles applied to substation facilities. - Ability to independently manage large‑scale, high‑budget projects without supervision. - Demonstrated leadership in coaching engineers, fostering knowledge transfer, and presenting technical findings to stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities** - Design foundations, structures, grading, seismic qualification, and SPCC plans for substation projects. - Manage end‑to‑end project lifecycle: concept, analysis, design, documentation, and execution. - Review and approve structural drawings and calculations from internal staff and outside contractors. - Collaborate with electrical, construction, permitting, land, and legal teams to resolve technical and regulatory issues. - Finalize contract specifications, evaluate bids, and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards. - Deliver presentations and lead project team meetings to communicate progress and technical solutions. - Serve as the primary technical adviser for journey project and design engineers. **Required Skills** - Advanced civil/structural engineering design and analysis. - Project management and leadership. - Knowledge of state and national codes (e.g., ASCE, IBC, seismic, SPCC). - Strong presentation and documentation skills. - Ability to evaluate and integrate contractor deliverables. - Collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical discipline (US accredited or equivalent abroad). - Active California PE license – Civil or Structural. - Minimum 8 years professional civil/structural engineering experience. - Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (preferred).
