Job Description
**Job Title:** Privacy Officer **Role Summary:** Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of information security, privacy, and compliance programs for a large health and human services agency. Ensure all practices, policies, and procedures align with federal, state, and local regulations and support organizational risk management objectives. **Expectations:** - Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience implementing information security, privacy, or compliance programs in a large health‑social services environment. - Demonstrated ability to develop policies, conduct risk assessments, lead investigations, and implement corrective actions. - Proficiency in interpreting and applying HIPAA, HITECH, and related state/local privacy regulations. - Experience performing internal/external compliance reviews of contracts, program guidelines, and SOPs. - Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent); a master’s/doctoral degree may offset up to 1 year of experience. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Design, update, and enforce agency‑wide privacy and information security policies and procedures. 2. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and privacy impact analyses; recommend and track remediation. 3. Lead privacy investigations and manage corrective action plans. 4. Review and assess compliance of contracts, program guidelines, and operational practices with applicable laws and regulations. 5. Monitor regulatory changes; develop tools and guidance to assure ongoing compliance. 6. Provide regular compliance reporting to senior leadership and the Business Assurance & Compliance team. 7. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to integrate privacy controls into business processes and projects. **Required Skills:** - In‑depth knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, state privacy statutes, and related compliance frameworks. - Policy development, risk assessment, audit, and investigative expertise. - Ability to analyze complex regulations and translate them into practical controls. - Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and stakeholder engagement. - Project‑management and organizational skills to lead multi‑disciplinary initiatives. - Proficiency with compliance management tools and documentation practices. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution (or certified foreign equivalency). - Minimum 3 years relevant healthcare privacy/compliance experience. - Master’s or doctoral degree in a related field may substitute for up to 1 year of experience. - Professional certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CISSP, CISA, CHPC) are preferred but not mandatory.
