Job Description
Job Title: Software Engineering Intern Role Summary: Hands‑on software engineering internship focused on avionics and in‑flight computing systems for aircraft. Interns participate in all phases of software development—requirements, design, coding, testing, and documentation—to support FAA and foreign certification of mission‑critical software. Expectations: - Work full‑time onsite during the summer term (10 + weeks). - Embed in cross‑functional Agile teams and contribute to projects in Primary Flight, Engine, and Multi‑function display domains. - Meet cost and schedule targets while adhering to industry and company design standards. - Prove capability to work independently with limited oversight. Key Responsibilities: - Gather and translate functional requirements into specifications and design documents. - Implement C/C++ code for avionics hardware platforms, including flight controls and network servers. - Execute software verification activities: test definition, test execution, and artifact review. - Debug, integrate, and validate executable code on real flight‑control hardware. - Produce lifecycle documentation required for formal certification of avionics software. - Participate in peer technical reviews and Agile Scrum ceremonies. Required Skills: - Proficiency in C/C++ programming. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities. - Effective written and verbal communication. - Collaborative teamwork under Agile Scrum principles. - Self‑directed work with minimal supervision. Required Education & Certifications: - Current enrollment in an accredited college/university, sophomore or higher standing, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, Software Engineering or Computer Science. - Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. - Familiarity with software development concepts, best practices, and industry procedures. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. - Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
