Job Description
**Job Title:** Junior Analytics Engineer – Insurance **Role Summary:** Support the Underwriting & Actuarial Analytics team by designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and analytical models to serve commercial analytics requests for a large insurance underwriting operation. Serve as the primary contact for analytics needs, translating business problems into data‑driven solutions. **Expectations:** - Deliver high‑quality analytics deliverables with minimal supervision. - Proactively identify and address data and reporting gaps. - Communicate findings clearly to underwriters and actuarial staff. - Adapt quickly to evolving business priorities in a fast‑paced insurance environment. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, and maintain multi‑step ETL jobs and data pipelines. - Build and optimize data models to support underwriting and actuarial analytics. - Act as the first point of contact for all commercial analytics requests, gathering requirements and delivering solutions. - Produce visualizations and dashboards (preferably Power BI) for business stakeholders. - Collaborate with data engineers, actuaries, and underwriters to ensure data integrity and relevance. - Utilize version control (GitHub) for code management and documentation. - Support cloud‑based infrastructure, primarily Microsoft Azure, and integrate scheduled jobs. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis. - Experience with version control systems (GitHub). - Knowledge of ETL design, job scheduling, and pipeline automation. - Strong data visualization abilities; Power BI experience a plus. - Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure. - Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive projects forward. - Understanding of the London/Lloyd’s insurance market concepts. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related field, **or** equivalent industry experience. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Power BI, or actuarial qualifications) are advantageous but not mandatory.
