Job Description
**Job Title:** New Graduate Surgical Technologist (CST) **Role Summary:** Provides sterile instrument, supply, and equipment management as the primary scrub tech during surgical procedures, supporting the surgical team to ensure efficient, safe operations. **Expectations:** - Maintain ≥15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) annually. - Adhere to physical demands: frequent walking, standing, squatting; lift/move 10‑50 lb intermittently. - Flexible schedule including day, evening, night, and on‑call assignments. **Key Responsibilities:** - Verify and sterilize all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment before procedures. - Perform draping and maintain strict aseptic technique throughout surgeries. - Assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies. - Orient and mentor medical/nursing students and ancillary staff on unit protocols. - Contribute to unit development by identifying goals and process improvements. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in sterile technique and instrument handling. - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols. - Effective communication and teamwork within a fast‑paced OR environment. - Physical stamina to stand for long periods and manage moderate loads. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Graduation from a CAAHEP‑ or ABHES‑accredited Surgical Technology program **or** completion of a military surgical technology program **or** documented employment as a surgical technologist for ≥1 year between 12/31/2010‑12/31/2014 (grandfather clause). - Obtain and maintain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within 12 months of graduation.
