Job Description
**Job Title:** Senior Business Analyst **Role Summary** Evaluate and analyze electricity and renewable gas products, support grid modernization initiatives, and develop strategic recommendations to enhance Manitoba Hydro's market position in PPA negotiations and energy solutions. **Expectations** Conduct in-depth financial and market analyses, collaborate on strategic projects, and contribute to policy and pricing strategies for renewable energy solutions. **Key Responsibilities** Conduct detailed product evaluations (electricity and renewable gas) using financial analysis and economic principles to assess opportunities and inform PPA negotiation strategies.Support grid modernization by analyzing emerging technologies, distributed energy resources, and advanced infrastructure.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and enhance grid flexibility, reliability, and integration of customer-owned generation.Develop pricing evaluations for independent power and renewable gas technologies to support project recommendations and contract negotiations.Monitor industry trends in renewable technologies and collaborate with experts to shape product strategies.Document analysis outcomes, present risks and recommendations to management, and contribute to contract drafting for energy offerings.Develop and update KPIs for Quarterly Business Reviews.Prepare data and respond to Information Requests for regulatory and government applications.Participate in ad hoc analyses and represent the department on internal/external working groups.Maintain relationships with stakeholders, including senior leadership, regulatory bodies, and community leaders.Research and assess utility and market developments in Canada and the U.S. to inform power requirement forecasts. **Required Skills** Strategic thinking, problem-solving, financial analysis, Microsoft Excel proficiency. Knowledge of energy systems (generation, transmission, pricing), project evaluation, and regulatory compliance. **Required Education & Certifications** Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
