Entry Level UX Design Apprenticeship
**Role Summary**
A 7‑month remote apprenticeship for new graduates or UX career changers. Apprentices will lead end‑to‑end UX design and research for a startup idea they choose, completing weekly deliverables (5‑10 hrs/week) and optional weekend lectures. The program focuses on building digital products from concept to prototype, including research, scoping, user testing, design systems, and business modeling, preparing participants for 6‑figure careers in UX, product, or service design.
**Expectations**
- Commit 5–10 hours weekly to program deliverables.
- Attend 2–3 hour weekend lectures or complete online modules.
- Receive and apply feedback from 1:1 mentors.
- Complete all learning milestones: research, scoping, design, testing, pitch, and business modeling.
- Produce a complete presentation (interviews, personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, design system, business pitch).
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead product and feature scoping and full project management for chosen startup concept.
- Identify target market, conduct competitive analysis, and develop business model.
- Design and execute discovery research: recruitment, planning, interview guide creation, 8–16 qualitative interviews, insight synthesis.
- Create user personas, stakeholder maps, journey maps, process maps, service blueprints, ideation matrices.
- Produce wireframes, UX workflows, low‑to‑high fidelity prototypes; iterate based on usability testing.
- Build a design system from scratch (components, style guide, branding).
- Deliver a compelling UX/business pitch integrating qualitative/quantitative data.
- Consult with startups on scope of work and fulfill UX research, design, and service design deliverables.
**Required Skills**
- Strong understanding of UX research methods and design fundamentals.
- Ability to translate user insights into design solutions (flowcharts, wireframes, prototypes).
- Proficiency with design tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or equivalent.
- Basic project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for presentations and research synthesis.
- Openness to iterative feedback and improvement.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Recent graduate or career‑changer; no specific degree required.
- Completion of UX fundamentals or introductory courses (online or bootcamp) preferred.
- No industry certifications required, though relevant credentials (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group) are a plus.
