Job title: Platform Engineer
Role Summary:
Design, build, and maintain the cloud-native infrastructure that supports Scene Health’s mobile and web applications. Leverage DevOps principles to automate, monitor, and secure services across AWS, ensuring high availability, compliance, and continuous delivery. Collaborate with product, operations, and security teams to enforce best practices in a regulated healthcare environment.
Expectations:
- Own and evolve the platform’s infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation scripts.
- Maintain a secure, compliant posture for applications and data across multi‑cloud and containerized environments.
- Mentor junior engineers on platform practices and maintain code quality.
- Communicate security and platform changes to internal teams and, when necessary, external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines across development, staging, and production environments.
2. Provision and manage AWS resources (security groups, IAM, VPC, networking, CloudWatch, etc.) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
3. Deploy, scale, and monitor Docker/Kubernetes workloads; manage container images and registry.
4. Secure infrastructure and application nodes: firewalls, SSL/PKI, secrets management, MFA, SSO, zero‑trust model.
5. Operate SOC‑related controls, review and update security policies and procedures.
6. Monitor system performance, logs, and alerts (CloudWatch, Datadog, Sentry).
7. Maintain backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and conduct periodic tests.
8. Provision user access, privilege escalation controls, and upgrade provisioning methods.
9. Automate repetitive tasks with Bash, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, and CI/CD scripts.
10. Document design decisions, runbooks, and best‑practice guidelines.
11. Participate in 15% mentoring and knowledge‑sharing activities.
Required Skills:
- 2+ years in modern software development environments; 1+ year in infrastructure/security roles.
- Expertise in AWS architecture, CI/CD, and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK).
- Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container security.
- Proficient in scripting (Bash, Python, Ruby, JS) and programming in JavaScript.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed system design.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) and SOC controls.
- Experience with monitoring (CloudWatch, Datadog, Sentry) and backup/DR procedures.
- Trunk‑based development, monorepo tools (e.g., Turborepo), and configuration management (Ansible, Chef).
- Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or similar are highly desirable.
