Job Description
**Job Title** CALL Intern (Climate Action Learning and Leadership Internship) **Role Summary** A 12‑week, up to 35 hours per week internship for individuals from equity‑deserving groups. The intern joins a cohort to rotate through multiple zoo departments, gaining hands‑on experience in wildlife care, conservation science, and organizational strategy. The role focuses on developing leadership, communication, and program‑planning skills while contributing to climate‑action and conservation projects. **Expectations** - Complete high‑school level education (OSSD or equivalent). - Demonstrate interest in conservation and climate‑action. - Be legally eligible to work in Canada. - Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. - Meet physical requirements (lifting, bending). - Pass police reference check and driver’s record checks if required. **Key Responsibilities** - Rotate through departments such as Wildlife Care, Welfare Science, Nutrition, Horticulture, Learning & Engagement, Guest Relations, and Strategic Communications. - Job‑shadow staff and contribute to ongoing projects. - Generate social‑media content and participate in video production to raise conservation awareness. - Design and deliver on‑site and virtual programming events. - Complete a climate‑action/conservation project with a written report. - Participate in pre‑ and post‑project surveys and impact assessments. - Deliver exceptional customer service to guests, staff, volunteers, and community members. - Adhere to health and safety protocols, report hazards, and complete required training. **Required Skills** - Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present to diverse audiences. - Team player capable of independent work. - Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn social‑media platforms. - Working knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS a plus. - Physical stamina for lifting and bending tasks. **Required Education & Certifications** - Completion of high school, OSSD, or equivalent. - No specific certification required, though WHMIS knowledge is advantageous.
