Job Description
Job title: Technical Engineer Role Summary: Field-based Technical Engineer responsible for supporting Air Source Heat Pump installers across Scotland. Provides expert guidance, conducts site visits, ensures compliance with MCS regulations, and prepares detailed installation reports. Expectations: - Full-time permanent role, 42.5 hours/week (Mon‑Fri). - Travel extensively across Scotland; overnight stays permitted. - Maintain a Full UK Driving Licence and a valid MOT, rear‑view camera, Personal Accident Cover. Key Responsibilities: 1. Conduct site assessments with Air Source Heat Pump installers. 2. Deliver technical support to project teams, installers, project managers, and clients throughout the installation cycle. 3. Prepare and submit comprehensive site reports with recommendations and installation guidance. 4. Verify that all installations meet technical specifications and MCS compliance. 5. Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues, performing commissioning and after‑care support. 6. Communicate effectively via email, phone, and digital reporting platforms. Required Skills: - Proven technical experience in renewables or HVAC, including installation, commissioning, fault‑finding, servicing, and after‑care of Air Source Heat Pumps. - Strong knowledge of low‑carbon heating technologies and renewable energy systems. - Excellent communication skills (oral & written). - Proficiency in digital reporting tools and online collaboration platforms. - Ability to travel frequently and adapt to remote or on‑site work environments. Required Education & Certifications: - Relevant plumbing and heating qualifications (e.g., Unvented Hot Water – G3 certification). - Any additional HVAC or renewable energy certifications advantageous but not mandatory.
