Job title: Platform Engineering – Summer 2026 Intern
Role Summary: Provides engineering support to iCapital’s platform team, focusing on backend infrastructure, API design, and data‑science service layers. Works with investment, fund operations, and portfolio analytics teams to deliver scalable, secure, and developer‑friendly solutions.
Expectations:
- Active participation in a 10‑week internship, delivering a final project presented to senior leadership.
- Collaboration with cross‑functional teams, Agile development cycles, and rapid iteration.
- Completion of projects that demonstrate production‑ready coding and impact on platform quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web applications in Ruby on Rails, React, Python, Java/Scala, or C# within a Unix/Linux environment.
- Design and expose developer‑friendly APIs, ensuring accessibility and responsive UI support.
- Contribute to a service layer that applies AI/ML/OCR/NLP to transform static documents for the Data Science team.
- Support investment workflows for external and internal users, including creation, review, and approval of private investment assets.
- Assist fund administration and operations teams in resolving complex private equity and hedge fund finance challenges.
- Participate in portfolio analytics projects to deliver quantitative insights for CIOs and advisors.
- Collaborate on platform architecture, focusing on scalability, security, and information integrity.
- Test, debug, and refactor code to meet production readiness standards.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in one or more of: Ruby (Rails), JavaScript (React), Python, Java/Scala, C++, C#.
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux, distributed/parallel systems, data structures, networking, and security fundamentals.
- Experience with Agile development, object‑oriented design, and delivering production‑level code.
- Familiarity with machine learning, information retrieval, NLP, or related AI/ML concepts.
- Analytical mindset, creative problem‑solving, and strong communication (verbal & written).
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
- Technically proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
Required Education & Certifications:
- Current enrollment as a rising junior or senior in a U.S. bachelor’s degree program (Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related field).
- Eligible to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship available.
