Job Description
Job Title: Backend Software Engineer Role Summary: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems for an AI‑driven healthcare data platform using AWS services. Build secure APIs and data pipelines that support real‑time and batch processing, ensuring high performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Expectations: • Must reside in Indianapolis, IN (hybrid onsite). • Full‑time, ownership of end‑to‑end platform components. • Salary range $90,000–$180,000 plus equity. Key Responsibilities: - Architect and implement backend services with AWS Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, OpenSearch, Step Functions, etc. - Design and develop REST/GraphQL APIs and ETL pipelines for real‑time and batch workflows. - Integrate diverse clinical data sources (EMR, wearable, omics) into the platform. - Lead projects from design through production deployment. - Enforce security, compliance, and performance standards for sensitive healthcare data. - (Bonus) Contribute to CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices. Required Skills: - Deep experience with AWS and distributed system design. - Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, boto3) or equivalent language. - Expertise in API design, data modeling, and pipeline development. - Knowledge of secure data handling, authentication, and encryption for healthcare data. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and IaC tools. - Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. - Optional certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, or similar.
